The Triton College baseball team was pushed to the limit, but in the end the Trojans found a way to win their fourth straight Region IV Division I title in a 4-1 come-from-behind victory over South Suburban College May 12 at Symonds-Puckett Field. Triton rallied late to score a single run to tie the game in the 7th inning before scoring three times in the 8th to grab the lead. The regional championship is the 24th in the storied 50-year history of the program.
Jack Ferraro who had several clutch hits all tournament long was named Most Valuable Player. Trojan head coach
Harry Torgerson was named Region IV Coach of the Year.
Triton (30-17) moves on to the Northern District Tournament hosted by Region 24 champions Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, IL. Along with Trojans and WVC, Iowa Western Community College (Council Bluffs, IA) and Rend Lake College (Ina, IL) will be in the four-team double elimination field with the winner advancing to the NJCAA JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO.
