The Triton men's basketball team had very little trouble in their 88-54 win Wednesday night over Milwaukee Tech at the Collins Center. The Trojans, ranked No. 4 in the latest
NJCAA Division II Poll have now won 14 straight games to improve their overall record to 21-3. For head coach
Steve Christiansen and the program, it's 11 consecutive seasons with at least 20 victories. In addition, Triton is in the drivers seat to claim the
North Central Community College Conference championship for the sixth year in a row.
In the win over Milwaukee, Triton had a 10-point halftime lead at 39-29 before busting the contest open with a 23-3 run in the 2nd half. The Trojans had five players in double-figures led by
Alondes Williams who finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Creig Atkins and
Devin Blake scored 11 points apiece.
Deonta Terrell and
Courtese Cooper each scored 10 points. Cooper also added eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
Meriton Bunjaku had a solid showing with nine points and 11 rebounds.
For the game, Triton shot 32 of 73 from the field (43.8%) including 13 made three-pointers from seven different players. Earlier this season, the Trojans broke the school record for most three-pointers made as a team in a single game vs. McHenry County College with 18 from beyond the arc.
