The Triton women's basketball team showed signs of the team they can be in claiming their best win of the season so far, a 64-59 overtime road win over NJCAA Division III top 10 ranked Joliet Junior College Wednesday.
The Lady Trojans (5-12) have lost a number of close games this season including a pair in overtime to Highland and Prairie State College's. But against a Wolves squad who entered the contest 14-4, Triton would not be denied this time by scoring the first eight points of the extra session to take control. The Lady Trojans made enough free throws and got some key rebounds in the closing seconds to preserve the win.
Jasmine Nelson led Triton with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore
Andrionna Harper had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Ginani Badillo finished with 12 points.
Taylor Gaines added eight points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Trojans are 1-1 in the N4C. Joliet who was the early conference favorite falls to 0-3 in a conference race that appears to be wide-open. Triton will host Harper College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Collins Center.
