The Triton College women's basketball team has faced one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation. So their 1-6 record entering their first Region IV District D test of the season Tuesday at Oakton may be a bit misleading. Still the Lady Trojans struggled out the gate early before breaking the game open by outscoring the Owls 26-6 in the 2nd quarter to run away from Oakton 90-49.
Triton (2-6) had contributions from all nine players dressed with six in double-figures led once again by
Mariah Henry. The freshman from Proviso West scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. Henry, who is fourth in the nation in scoring added six assists and five steals.
Sophomore
Andrionna Harper finished with 13 points and six assists.
Jasmine Nelson had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Artasia Gusman and
Yasmin Muhammad each tallied 11 points.
Ginani Badillo scored a season-high 10 points.
The Lady Trojans have an eight-day layoff after a busy opening first three weeks of the season to get ready for their next challenge, a road game Nov. 30 at defending Region IV champions Moraine Valley.
