Emily-Jo Anderson

Emily-Jo Anderson was named Triton College Athletic Academic Coordinator in September of 2019. She will be responsible for monitoring the academic progress of all Triton athletes. Anderson brings a unique background that combines excellence in academics and athletics to the college.   

A Triton graduate and Alum of the Scholar’s Program (Fall of 2004-Spring of 2006), she attained an Associate in Arts degree (Speech Communication Concentration). Upon graduating, she attended Concordia University-River Forest (now Concordia University-Chicago; CUC) from Fall of 2006-December of 2008, where she attained her Bachelor of Arts (Business Management Concentration) while simultaneously attaining a second Associate in Science degree from Triton (Business Administration Concentration).

After attaining her degrees, Anderson has served in various part-time roles at Triton including: Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach (2012-15), Athletic Event Worker (2015-18) and Program Assistant (2018-19).

Prior to becoming full-time at Triton as Athletic Academic Coordinator, Anderson worked for 10 years at Career Education Corporation (CEC) where she began as a Financial Aid Advisor for Colorado Technical University. Within her tenure at CEC, Anderson worked her way up the corporate ladder, to eventually become a Lead Military Financial Aid Administrator where she oversaw the awarding and finalizing of financial aid awards for both civilian and military students.

Anderson attempts to model herself and her student athletes after is idea: “Excuses are the tools of the weak and incompetent. They build bridges to nowhere and tunnels to nothingness. …Those who excel in them seldom do anything else, therefore, there are no excuses.” –Frank Ocean

Anderson resides in Broadview with her husband LaChawn and two sons (LaChawn, Jr. [14] and Jayceon [4]).
