DeShawnte Carraway comes to Triton College after spending last season on the staff at Prairie State College. The Harvey, Illinois native played at Harper College where he earned All-Region 4 honors in his freshman campaign. 

Carraway transferred to Claflin University and became a key part of the Panthers’ baseball team. During the 2022–23 season, he started in most games on the squad and was recognized as one of the best catchers in HBCU. He had a career average of .260 at Claflin, he majored Sports Management with a minor in Human Performance & Recreation, and his play on the field combined with his classroom performance helped him earn a place on the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Team of Academic Distinction, an honor given to student-athletes who excel both athletically and academically.

Carraway proceeded to get his Master’s degree in Business Administration and play his last year of collegiate baseball at Benedictine University. He ended his college career hitting .340 and was named to the all-tournament team.
