Trojans battle Madison to a scoreless draw

The Triton College women's soccer team bent a little but did not break to earn a scoreless draw with Madison College Sept. 23 at the Jorndt Athletic Complex Multi-Purpose Field.

The WolfPack (4-1-1) had the majority of the ball possession, but the Trojans (3-2-2) defended strong in a physical contest that saw each team down a player after simultaneous red cards were issued each way in the 59th minute.  

Triton was out-shot 13-3 and could not generate much on the offensive end.

However, the excellent play in goal by Ashley Mancera was the difference. The freshman from Niles North registered six saves to keep Madison off the board.  

"It's never an easy game when we play Madison," said Trojans head coach Francisco Estrada. "It was a scrappy game and thought the end result of a draw was fair. It was nice to build some positives with the tough schedule we have coming up."

Triton will be on the road Saturday (Sept. 26) to face an improved Milwaukee Area Technical squad. Game time is 2 p.m. in Oak Creek, WI.
