Triton College is pleased to announce the hiring of Rob Holloway as the new Triton College men's basketball head coach.
A familiar face to the Trojans, Holloway brings more than 15 years of coaching experience, including serving as an assistant coach for the Triton men's basketball team during the 2024-25 season. Before entering the coaching ranks, he donned the Triton red and gold as a player for the Trojans during the 2001-02 season and has built an impressive coaching resume since his playing days.
"Rob's journey from Triton student-athlete to head coach speaks volumes about his character, work ethic and commitment to the game," said Athletic Director A.J. Blahut. "He understands the tradition of our men's basketball program and brings valuable experience from successful coaching stops at the junior college and NCAA Division I levels. We're excited to welcome him back to Triton College and are confident he will continue building upon the strong tradition of success, leadership and student-athlete development within our men's basketball program."
For Holloway, the opportunity to return to Triton represents a "full-circle" moment.
"Triton is home for me. To go from being a student-athlete here to then serving as an assistant coach and now be leading the program is truly a full-circle moment," Holloway said. "When you think about walking this campus and playing on these courts, and now having the opportunity to be the head coach, it's appealing."
As he prepares for his first season at the helm, Holloway said his focus is going to be building upon the tradition of excellence established by those who came before him.
"My goal is to continue the tradition and foundation that have already been established," Holloway said. "Triton has long been one of the top junior college basketball programs in the country, and I want to build on the success of the coaches who came before me and continue moving the program forward."
Holloway began his coaching career in 2010 as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at Kennedy-King College in Chicago. After two seasons, he was promoted to head coach, helping lead the program to 48 wins while producing six All-Region performers.
Holloway later held coaching positions in several NCAA men's basketball programs, including the University of Missouri–St. Louis, Eastern Illinois University, Valparaiso University and, most recently, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Holloway graduated from Triton College in 2003 before earning a bachelor's degree in finance from Eastern Illinois University in 2005. He worked in private business for several years before beginning his coaching career.
