The power of the Triton College softball team was on full display in their double header sweep of the College of Lake County March 21 in Grayslake.
The Trojans for the two games combined to hit seven home runs and 31 hits to push their win streak to 10 straight wins after their 16-5 and 10-3 victories over the Lancers.
Triton (14-5) went deep five times in game one.
Katlyn Cherry tied the game at four with a two-run shot in the top of the third.
Then Triton broke the game open with six runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Celeste Boshold (Elmwood Park) hit a pair of home runs.
Samanta Nelson (Taft) and
Kailey Kirkwood (Leyden) also went yard for the Trojans who belted out 15 hits.
The second game was more of the same sparked by a 4-for-5 performance by Cherry. The sophomore for Hebron, IN homered in the first, tripled in the third, singled in the fourth and doubled in the seventh en route to driving in five runs.
Kirkwood would hit second round-tripper of the day in game two as the Triton pounded out 15 hits.
On the mound, Nelson earned the complete game win going seven innings, allowing six hits, three runs and striking out three.
