The Triton College volleyball team got back on the winning track going 3-0 the previous week and not losing a single set in the process.
With the Region 4 tournament approaching on March 29, the Trojans improved to 8-4 overall after a pair of wins over Dayspring Bible College (March 9 and 13) and Spoon River College (March 11).
Triton won the first meeting of the week over Dayspring 25-13, 25-15 and 25-19 at the Collins Center.
Allison Keys (Columbia, MO) had 15 kills. Sophomore setter
Leah Rettke (Riverside-Brookfield) finished with 29 assists.
Bailey Berger (Kenosha, WI) registered 28 digs.
In the rematch four days later in Lake Zurich, the Trojans won 25-7, 25-11 and 25-16. Several Triton players filled the stat sheet led by Keys once more with 20 digs, eight kills and seven aces. Rettke had another solid all-around performance with 19 assists, 15 digs and six kills. Berger finished with 22 digs. Sophomore
Sumeja Hodzic (Proviso East) also had eight kills. Freshman
Nakiya Ashford (Kenwood Academy) had team-high five blocks.
Sandwiched between the two games with Dayspring, Triton earned the season sweep over Spoon River College with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-21 home victory.
Rettke paced the attack once again with 25 assists. Berger had 24 digs. Hodzic recorded eight blocks and
Miriam Guler (Ridgewood) had a team-high 10 kills.
